Contemporary Art from Gorría Studio-Workshop
A new building for contemporary art rises on the historical street of San Isidro, thought up by one of the main figures of Cuban cinema: Jorge Perugorría.
The main character of the multi-prizewinning film Fresa y Chocolate (Strawberry and Chocolate), an actor with more than 40 film productions, a filmmaker and an artist of the plastic arts, welcomes Gorría Studio-Workshop, “a new model of independent and sustainable management.”
Visitors will be able to appreciate and buy pieces by first-rate Cuban artists such as Carlos Quintana, Choco, Roberto Fabelo, Mabel Poblet, Arlés del Río, Stainless and Perugorría himself, among others.
More than just some room to display good and young art, the studio-workshop is a cultural platform that harbors both, solo and collective exhibitions, as well as programs for social exchange and public welfare.
An area where different performances, installations, video art and lectures come together to make of the place “some room open to diversity and the exchange of ideas in the interest of art renovation”, as its creator stated.
