At short distance from the Iglesia Mayor, downtown Sancti Spíritus, an old and well preserved big house hosts musicians, singers and dancers every day. This is an open-doors house that invites inhabitants and visitors to enjoy most traditional songs of Cuban music. Everybody knows it by Casa de la Trova.
No one who has browsed around could resist temptation to come in. It’s not enough to see at first sight this architectonical relic which goes back from XVIII century; its true charm is inside, where maracas sound, guitar chords, conga drums percussion, harpsichord beat come from. In the nights, performances with trova musicians and local bands (trios, quartets) take place. Besides, the house provides you food and drink services, so, you may try with Cuban cocktails, just for the start.
The atmosphere is pretty cozy: people go and feel relished as if they were at home, in fact, it’s even better. There are few things in life that please the spirit as much as music does, but if turns out someone plays guaracha or son, then, the body joins in the soul celebration, for good.
