Santa Maria Cay Dolphinarium: Fun in the water
It is said that dolphins are among the most intelligent mammals. They are ‘show’ animals, likable, affectionate and bold.
If you visit the Dolphinarium in Santa Maria Cay, one of the most exclusive seaside resorts in Cuba, you will be able to see with your own eyes the skills of these curious creatures, trained to surprise with incredible pirouettes and jumps through really high hoops.
2011 marked the birth of this Dolphinarium. Its first four dwellers got there after a long but happy voyage from Varadero beach in Matanzas. Others joined afterwards and currently 15 dolphins live there together.
There are shows every day at 11:30 am and 3:00 pm and they turn out to be a party for the whole family. The ticket to access the premises costs 5 CUC and it gives the possibility of enjoying all shows.
A swim of approximately 15 minutes with the dolphins costs 15 CUC, although the price may be higher according to its duration. Submerged in the water, visitors can touch them, get a wet kiss and feed them. If you wish to take a picture with them, you can do so for 10 CUC.
