El Patio: An Open-Air Sanctuary
The kitchen of the restaurant El Patio (The Backyard) is among the most well-known in the province of Camagüey. That is why many are the visitors that come knocking at its door as a result of chance, to be left then, as many others, madly in love with its essence.
Tradition, coolness and nature are just some of the characteristics that make the stay in El Patio memorable. The restaurant has wide halls that allow not only appreciating the beautiful colonial architecture, but also the blowing of a delicious breeze that relieves the visitor’s tiredness and assuages the intense heat. Inside, there lies a spacious backyard adorned with endemic plants from the Cuban flora, thus turning the place into a sort of natural sanctuary.
El Patio offers us a menu that goes beyond the traditional referents of the national cuisine by playing with a mix of different culinary cultures. The most popular dish on the menu is “Carnero a la Camagüeyana” (Lamb Camagüey style), an authentic jewel of the local gastronomy. The prices in the menu don’t exceed 10.00 CUC, thus favoring this destination to become not just a spiritual revelation but also a very affordable option.
El Patio, a sanctuary to relax ourselves and enjoy the typical meals of a colonial Cuba with dishes that will leave everybody looking forward to going back for just one more dinner.
