Two World Premieres by Acosta Danza

Great Theatre of Havana, La Habana

Sept. 14th-17th 08:30 PM - 07:00 PM

On September 14th – 17th, the company Acosta Danza, directed by Carlos Acosta, will go on stage again at the Grand Theater of Havana Alicia Alonso with two world premieres: Imponderable, choreographed by Spanish Goyo Montero, and the duet Mermaid, by Belgian Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, one of the most famous names in the international scene of contemporary dance.

The piece Imponderable is inspired by the lyrical and musical work by Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez, who recorded, in his own voice and especially for the premiere, the texts used in the piece. Mermaid was created for Carlos Acosta, who will perform accompanied by dancer Marta Ortega.

The new season, called Septiembre (September), will also bring choreographies that are already known, such as Belles Lettres, a lyrical piece by choreographer Justin Peck; El cruce sobre el Niágara (Crossing Over Niagara), modern dance performed by Cuban Marianela Boán, and Twelve, divertimento by Jorge Crecis, reported Lester Vila Pereira, press director for Acosta Danza.

This company offers shows of integration from contemporary and neoclassical art, without rejecting other ways of expression, times and styles from the art of dancing.

Acosta Danza company venue: Línea # 857 e/ 4 y 6, Vedado, Havana, Cuba.
