Café Don Pepe: The Best Aroma in Town

Café Don Pepe, Sancti Spíritus

Daily 08:00 AM - 12:00 AM

Café Don Pepe offers around 40 varieties of beverages that include coffee: espresso, national, cortado (black coffee with a dash of milk), with cream, Americano (large black coffee), cappuccino; as well as alcoholic drinks: Mojito, Cuba Libre, Daiquiri, among many others; fruit juice or refreshing Cuban beer.

From the comfort of a typical country stool or a colonial bench, the stay becomes entertaining because, while you savor the Amoroso (coffee on crushed ice with Amaretto liqueur and cream) or Miss Ochún (coffee on crushed ice with Mulata rum, banana liqueur, cream and honey), you can leave graphic evidence of your presence on the walls.

Protected by the shade of plants, Café Don Pepe is the perfect place to chat with friends or to captivate your partner while you listen to traditional rhythms played by popular musicians from a park nearby.

Café Don Pepe opened its doors on March 19th, 2012. The day and month were chosen according to the Catholic calendar of saints’ feast days (Saint Joseph) and the birthday of José (Pepe) Carreras, the owner of the place.

The coziness of the ancient ruins and the quality of the distilled beverage motivated Eusebio Leal – Havana’s eminent Historian- to designate the place as a confluence point, despite barely finding vestiges of the structure that was built there in 1789.
