This place comes with plenty of recommendations. It's merits will no doubt put a smile on your face after a long day of plodding through streets.
Enter the New Era and sit down with a fresh daiquirí or mojito. The food: You must try the lobster. Marinated in a flavorful mixture of fish and shrimp sauce, this dish is the highlight. If you have a room left there are tasty skewers of barbequed meat and fish accompanied with an ample selection of wines.
The New Era stands out amongst other fine restaurants in Trinidad with its impressive view of mountains, clay tiled roofs, sea and the Museum Contra Bandidos Tower (formerly a convent).
The building is one of the oldest in the city. An old car and an ancient anchor provide ambience on the patio. Inside the walls, constructed in 1743 by the Mauri family, you are shaded by Spanish portals and may enjoy a hearty breakfast as well in unpretentious tranquility. The Mauris are a celebrated family who also produced a line of tobacco products.
The New Era abridged the past and the present. Make it part of your future!
