Put the popular Mars Square (Plaza de Marte) on your agenda in Santiago de Cuba. Dedicated to all manner of jazz with its myriads of mixes, the Iriz Jazz Club gives it up from 10:30 pm on every night except Tuesday.
This new place has grabbed the attention of César López, Latin Jazz winner Chucho Valdés and Bobby Caracasés, along with up-and-comers and lesser known jazz journeymen.
The young talent are there as well with loosely knit jazz combos from Jazz d'Bess, Francisco and the bite of Afrojazz. De Cuba Somos, Influencia, Adriana Asseff and her Boomerang Group will add to your evening in a backdrop of contemporary art and design, inside and out. The gallery "Jazznamá" is dedicated to caricatures and photography, while “Don Emiliano's” hosts other arts manifestations.
The gallery bar with ambience of the stylings of pianist Emiliano Saviour playing jazz standards offers a selection of tapas with a capacity of 90 guests. Criollo and sandwiches are offered as well all at modest prices.
This Santiago evening is brought to you courtesy of architect Jose Antonio Limonta and sculptor Lescay Merencio from the Caguayo Foundation for the Arts.
