Famous for having breathtaking landscapes and internationally considered as Biosphere Reserve, Las Terrazas is one main attraction for those looking for tranquility and direct contact with nature.
First, you can have maybe one of the best coffees ever at El Café de María, while chatting with locals and taking photos of this beautiful rural community. If you are looking for Cuban traditional food, then you shouldn’t miss La Fonda de Mercedes; delicious native dishes are totally guaranteed. Visit the Museo Polo Montañés to learn more about this talented and genuine Cuban singer & song-writer, considered as a traditional music star.
But Las Terrazas is much more than a café, a restaurant or a museum. It is honestly sort of a “paradise on Earth”. Special for family picnics by the San Juán river and for sailing small boats in the afternoon. Kids will have a great time while jumping into the water and swimming until tired. You can also ride a horse through the mountains, always guided by locals, or maybe lay on the grass while listening to that delicious and drowsy sound coming from the waterfalls.
If you are a walker then you’ll be in the right place; walking by the river or through the community will be a relaxing and wealthy exercise. Canoping is also available, so be ready for tickles in the stomach while watching the whole scenery from above. Sounds pretty amazing, right? You just have to jot down Las Terrazas in your agenda. And remember, nature is waiting for you.
