Impossible visiting Camagüey and not buying a souvenir. And, by the way, if you are looking for souvenirs, the San Juan de Dios Square is for sure one of those places you won’t want to miss. Here you’ll find all kind of items and memories to take with you when leaving, perfect for not forgetting about your visit to this warm and friendly city.
The list of all the souvenirs anyone may find here is pretty large, but, just for mentioning, necklaces, ceramics, clothes, miniatures of classic cars, maps, sculptures, papier-mâché pieces, music instruments as the famous maracas, guano hats and paintings, among many others, will be waiting for you. Just be sure of carrying an umbrella with you, or at least a cap or a hat, to protect yourself from the sun.
Besides the fair, you can enjoy the architecture surrounding, which still maintains its colonial style. Let’s not forget that the square dates from 1728, when the hospital (now a museum) and the church located on it were already finished.
So, don’t waste the opportunity not only of experiencing the crafts fair, but the history hidden behind the square’s walls.
